SNJ Today Features Alloy Silverstein Associate Partner in Tax Season News Segment

SNJ Today reporter Kimberly Kerr visited Alloy Silverstein’s Cherry Hill office on February 10, 2016 and spoke with associate partner Anne D’Amico, CPA/PFS regarding what South Jersey taxpayers need to know before filing their taxes this year.

Several of Anne’s tips include:

  • Be aware that the deadline this year is April 18, 2017, so you have three extra days.
  • If you’re not sure how to prepare your tax returns seek the help of a professional
  • The IRS is holding onto refunds for low or moderate taxpayers who are claiming certain credits. The state of New Jersey is going to hold on to your refund until March 1st for all tax filers.
  • Keep your records organized and complete. Bring them all in at one time, and if you’re using a professional, that will help cut costs.
  • Stay organized all year long actually. Keep an envelope in your house and put all your receipts in the envelope,
  • Be cautious about identity thieves and please think before hitting the send button. Either mail those documents in, hand carry them in or use another secure method of exchange.
