Should You Claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on Your 2021 Tax Return?

According to the IRS, all third-round stimulus checks have been sent out. If you were eligible but did not receive all of the money you were supposed to, you may need to claim the Recovery Rebate Credit on your 2021 tax return.

Am I eligible for the Recovery Rebate Credit?

There are a few categories of people who are eligible to claim the credit to receive their stimulus money.

  • Parents of children born in 2021.
  • Families who added another eligible dependent to their 2021 tax return.

The 2021 Recovery Rebate Credit is based on income and the number of dependents on a taxpayer’s 2021 tax return. While the IRS says that some third-round stimulus checks may still be in the mail, it is important to be aware of this credit when filing your 2021 taxes.
