Your Business Growth Toolkit: South Jersey Resources Every Business Owner Should Know About

Running a business means wearing a lot of hats. Between serving customers, managing employees, and keeping up with regulations, finding time to look for growth opportunities often falls to the bottom of the list.

The good news? You don’t have to navigate business growth alone.

During our recent Alloy Academy webinar, South Jersey Together: Your Business Growth Toolkit, Alloy Silverstein brought together leaders from the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce, the New Jersey Business Action Center (NJBAC), and the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) to discuss the programs, partnerships, and resources available to help businesses throughout New Jersey grow and thrive.

One message stood out throughout the discussion:

Many businesses are eligible for support, they just don’t know where to look.

Building Your Business Network

Business growth isn’t just about increasing revenue. It’s also about building relationships.

Kristi Howell, President & CEO of the Burlington County Regional Chamber of Commerce, shared how chambers of commerce provide much more than networking events. They connect business owners with educational programs, advocacy efforts, referral opportunities, leadership development, and a community of professionals facing many of the same challenges.

Whether you’re launching a new business or managing an established company, being actively involved in your local business community can open doors that aren’t always visible from behind your desk.

A State Resource You May Not Know Exists

If you’ve ever struggled to determine which government agency to contact, how to obtain a permit, or where to begin when expanding your business, the New Jersey Business Action Center was created for exactly that purpose.

Executive Director Melanie Willoughby explained that NJBAC serves as a central resource that helps businesses:

  • Navigate state agencies and regulations
  • Obtain permits and licenses
  • Connect with workforce development programs
  • Explore exporting opportunities
  • Identify local, county, and state business resources
  • Receive one-on-one assistance at no cost

Instead of spending hours searching for answers, business owners can work directly with specialists who help guide them to the right resources.

Funding Opportunities for Growing Businesses

Finding capital remains one of the biggest challenges for many businesses.

Christina Fuentes of the New Jersey Economic Development Authority (NJEDA) highlighted several programs designed to help businesses invest in their future, including:

  • Small business lease assistance
  • Main Street financing programs
  • E-commerce support
  • Community lending partnerships
  • Small business loan programs
  • Resources to prepare stronger funding applications

She also emphasized that many programs have specific eligibility requirements and application windows, making it important for businesses to explore available opportunities before funding closes.

Growth Doesn’t Happen Alone

One of the biggest takeaways from the webinar wasn’t about a specific grant or program, it was about collaboration.

Successful businesses don’t grow in isolation. They grow by surrounding themselves with trusted advisors, industry organizations, community partners, and state resources that can help solve problems, identify opportunities, and support long-term success.

At Alloy Silverstein, that’s exactly how we approach serving our clients. Beyond tax and accounting services, we believe part of our role is connecting businesses with the right people and resources to help them achieve their goals.
