South Jersey Taxpayers Learn About New Tax Law at Tax Reform Forum

(Cherry Hill and Hammonton, NJ) On January 17 and 18, 2018, Alloy Silverstein welcomed over 180 South Jersey taxpayers to Tax Reform Forum: The Impact of Tax Law Overhaul in both Cherry Hill, NJ and Hammonton, NJ.
Associate Partners Julie Strohlein, CPA and Ren Cicalese III, CPA, MST served as presenters at both events. Ms. Strohlein discussed the Individual tax changes including the new tax rates, standard deduction update, and changes to itemized deductions, personal exemptions, and the individual mandate. Mr. Cicalese III focused on the business aspect of the new tax law including C corporation tax rate changes, fixed asset expensing, interest expenses, net operating losses, active business losses, elimination of tax deductions, and changes to accounting methods such as passthroughs and the qualified business income deduction (QBID).

The January 17th event featured special guest Daniel Mellor, JD, LLM, a shareholder at Kulzer & DiPadova. Mr. Mellor discussed the top five questions about the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act” for both businesses and individuals.

The January 18th event featured special guest Michael L. Salad, Esq, LLM, a partner at Cooper Levenson. Mr. Salad discussed the legal perspective of tax law overhaul, including changes in Estate, Gift, and FST Tax, estate planning tips, and the new law’s updated definition of service industries.
