Externship Day

A one-day inside look at the CPA profession for accounting majors.

About Externship Day

What is Externship Day?

In 2009, Alloy Silverstein began offering an “Externship Day” event to local college and university students. Since we can’t welcome all students as interns, an externship was the next best thing. This year, our Externship program will be a 3-hour virtual session that covers topics including:

  • Résumé building
  • Interview tips
  • Internship advice and best practices
  • CPA exam preparation and expectations
  • Life during tax season
  • Public versus private accounting and other career opportunities
  • Networking
  • Career advancement
  • The future of public accounting
  • Real career lessons and experiences

Externship Day is an interactive event, so the more questions the attendees ask, the more answers they get, and also dictates the direction of the content for the day.

Our interns helped mold the program to really tell students and prospective accountants what it is you should expect in the working world. Each topic is discussed by real Alloy Silverstein team members, ranging from our Managing Shareholder to Supervisor, Accountants, and even our Interns. We invite you to speak up and ask questions during the virtual event, where the more informal atmosphere will help everyone loosen up!

Ultimately, Externship Day gives students a competitive advantage in the job market through interaction with our established professionals. Students will have the opportunity to explore the field of public accounting, learn how to jump-start their careers, and connect with fellow students.
